Romantic Things to Do in Los Angeles
LA isn’t all Hollywood actors and actresses, there are also some fantastic tourist opportunities away from the wannabe stars and plastic Barbies you see so much on the TV.
Beautiful beaches, fantastic mountain scenery, the dazzling ocean, a really chilled-out way of life … it’s hard to be worried about anything when you’re in LA LA land.
If you’re travelling with your other half, what kinds of things can you do together, to inject a bit of romance into your travel?
Here’s ten suggestions:
Sunset beach walk – Sunset is truly the time to enjoy a peaceful and romantic stroll along the shore. Bathed in orange light, there is nothing more magical than this. You won’t struggle to find a beach either, there’s countless ones to choose from.
Food with a view – High up seems to be the way as far as resturants are concerned, and enjoying a delicious slap-up meal with a stunning view before you will certainly put you in the mood for lurve. Yamashiro, a Japanese resturant, is popular choice, with views of the Walk of Fame, as well as the glittering Pacific Ocean.
Garden stroll – LA is home to many gardens, including Japanese-style botanical gardens, with several different types of flowers, including the romantic rose. Descanso Gardens are a good choice, and there is a guided tram tour too.
Gondola rides – Pretend you’re in Venice and be serenaded as the two of you drift along the river. Quite expensive, but worth it, and you’ll find lots of companies where you can book this kind of tour.
Head to the ocean – For a real get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, charter a private boat, either with a crew or to sail yourself, if you have the skills of course. Pack a picnic and watch the scenery together.
Spa chill out – There are several spas around the city that cater for couples, where you can enjoy a relaxing massage together, or a serene soak in a jacuzzi etc. The only decision will be which treatments you can agree on!
Champagne toast in the sky – A sunset flight over the city is magical and truly breathtaking; add in some champagne and your significant other, and it’s something entirely different. You’ll find plentiful companies where you can book this, just make sure you choose a reputable one with a good length of time in the sky, to get the most out of your money
More sunsets – a dinner cruise – Marina Del Rey, amongst other locations, is where you can catch a dinner cruise as the sun sets. I keep mentioning the sun setting, but you’ll understand why when you see the beautiful orange and blue hues.
Ballroom dancing – If you’re beginners, this is a great way to just laugh your time away, and if you’re already experienced, enjoy the sensation of dancing together. There are lots of ballrooms and this is a growing trend, but the Sky Room is one of the most popular.
Pop the question? – If you’re planning on proposing, head to the LA Jewellery District, where you’ll find a massive array of stores offering diamonds of different sizes, types and colours. Not proposing? Well, any excuse to buy a diamond will get you in the good books!
