Planning a Honeymoon in the Caribbean
Planning a honeymoon is sometimes as important as planning a wedding because it is the first week you and your beloved person spend as a married couple. You definitely have to plan your honeymoon carefully. The Caribbean is a very popular honeymoon destination because it’s exotic and offers romantic islands and beaches. If you decide to spend your honeymoon there, here are some tips what should you think about:
– Seasonal weather patterns. Weather in Caribbean can make your vacation total disaster! Therefore, date of your honeymoon in Caribbean is the most important factor, and you should pick it carefully! Official hurricane season start June 1 and lasts until Nov. 30, while the rest of the year climate is very hot with several showers from time to time. Try to avoid hurricane season as much as possible, because it may happen that you spend the whole honeymoon in your hotel room watching television due to rain or worse, you get evacuated, if a big hurricane comes in.
– Surf beach vs. calm beach – Decision where to go in Caribbean mainly depends on your personal taste, and expectations. Calm beaches can be very romantic, especially if they are uninhibited. Caribbean coast has many “paradise” beaches with blue sea, white sand, and beautiful scenes. On the other hand, some couples like adventures, so they prefer surfing beaches with many people around them, although it is not considered as a traditional romantic honeymoon.
– Rent a car or stay in one place – It can be very romantic to discover some new beaches on island, and to enjoy wild nature, and stunning scenes with your other half. Sometimes the hotel’s beach is not the most beautiful in the island, so if you like exploring you should rent a car and travel around the island.
– Island hop vs. stay on one island – The Caribbean has more than 5000 islands, and every single one is unique in its own way. If you decide to go on one of those islands, it would be a pity not to see some others as well (if that is possible). Usually, tourist agencies have organized cruises around nearby islands, so you can have one-day trips and visit new places. Since the Caribbean is typical destination for couples you can find romantic cruising tours that include one or two nights sleeping in surrounding island. If you’re cruising the Caribbean, here is a great packing list to help you plan what to take on your cruise.
– Shorter trip + major splurge vs. longer trip – Since the honeymoon is the one and the only in your life (at least it should be), you should plan something a little more lux than you usually would. Because of that it is maybe better to have shorter, but luxurious Caribbean holiday, than longer average trip.
– Do activities vs. just lounge around – This decision in only up to you and your honey bunny. Usually, honeymoons are romantic vacations, and due to that people choose less active trips. They want to enjoy maximally, and to have more free time to spend it alone with partners. On the other hand, if you and your beloved enjoy adventures and activities, Caribbean can surely offer you plenty of them.
