Planning an Adults Trip to Orlando
As the “Theme Park Capital of the World”, Orlando, Florida attracts tens of millions of visitors each year. Many of those visitors are children – and their parents of course – and that shouldn’t be a surprise if you know that attractions include Walt Disney World, SeaWorld and Wet ‘n’ Wild Water Park. However, this doesn’t mean that Orlando is a destination only popular among kids. There are plenty of activities for adults as well. Let’s take a look at them, shall we?
First of all, you don’t need to be a child to enjoy a visit to Disney World. This is where you can meet the Disney characters you grew up with and some of the rides are certainly thrilling and exciting to grown-ups as well. Don’t forget that there also are plenty of restaurants, movie theatres and shops. An example of such a restaurant is Victoria’s & Albert’s, where children younger than ten years old are not allowed. The dress code clearly shows that this is a place for adults: dinner jackets and dresses are required. At the Walt Disney World Speedway you have the chance the drive a real, 600hp NASCAR race car. Drivers need to be older than 18 and possess a valid drivers license.
Something completely different is going on a Night Airboat Tour. This is a one-hour tour through the wetlands and swamps of Florida that starts just after the sun has set. Children are allowed, but the youngest ones should already be in bed by then anyway. During this tour you will be able to relax and enjoy a sunset, while trying to spot alligators and other critters.
A must-do for adults in Orlando is visiting the ICEBAR, a one-of-a-kind nightclub. Wearing a coat or jackets is definitely recommended, as the temperature in the bar is permanently kept at 27°F (-2.7°C). Everything inside is made out of ice. There are atmospheric lights, dance platforms, VIP seats and so on.
Besides the ICEBAR there are many more nightspots worth checking out. An affordable way to do this is by buying an Orlando Night Life Pass. This convenient pass can be customized to your liking and grant you permission to the hottest of Orlando nightclubs – Vintage Lounge, Bliss Nightclub and Sterling Casino, to name but a few.
Totally different highs are offered by the Wallaby Ranch Hang Gliding Park. This park is situated just outside of Orlando. If you have fear of heights, this is definitely not something for you. If you don’t, you are (almost) in heaven. The Wallaby Ranch offers tandem hang glider flights. A lightweight plane will get you up to a height of 2,000 feet, release you and you will then smoothly glide back to earth.
A more down-to-earth place to go to is Winter Land. This is a place for art and culture lovers. It houses Rollins College and the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of Natural Art. Sophisticated as it is, it also has over seventy parks, which also makes it a great destination for people who like to spend time in nature. Many events and festivals are organized on a yearly basis.
If you’re planning to visit Orlando with a group of friends then checking out your options for Orlando villas might allow you to have more of a relaxed time than being in a hotel. Look for a place with a BBQ and it’s own pool or hot tub so you can party in the comfort of your own temporary home!
