The place to say ‘I do’
The big day, the one day in your life where you’re allowed to go completely over the top and nobody shouts at you about it, in fact they applaud it! I am of course talking about your wedding day.
Whether you choose to stay at home and say your vows, or whether you follow the huge trend of saying ‘I do’ on a beach somewhere, your big day should be yours entirely.
Most wedding destinations do tend to be long-haul, usually the Caribbean or the Indian Ocean islands, with good reason, because they’re basically beauty incarnate. The downside of this however is the length of the flight. Adding to this you’ll already tired and stressed from all the preparations and organizing the guests who are flying in. To make sure you’re relaxed on the big day, make sure you get to your wedding destination a few days early.
Checking up to date airport information will ensure no pre-wedding glitches with your travel plans too. Whenever I travel, I always make sure I’m informed on the airport I’m flying from, especially if it’s unfamiliar, which terminal I need to be at and when, and any special information, such as baggage rules specific to that airport.
No stress = the best possible start to the biggest day of your life!
Wedding packages can be anything from a simple barefoot wedding on the beach, to a big elaborate performance halfway up a mountain, there really are no limits to these things. Always ensure you check out the rules for the particular country you’re planning on visiting with regards to weddings, as they differ wildly, with too much detail to mention here. Also mention to your airline that it is a wedding you are travelling for, because you will be given more luggage for your dress etc.
Most people wanting to get married abroad these days do so in a destination they’re also planning on spending their honeymoon in, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be far flung. Santorini in Greece is a very popular spot for nuptials these days, as well as the south coast of Turkey, where you’ll no doubt find a bargain deal this year. Of course, the Caribbean, Sri Lanka, Bali, Mauritius, even Kenya, these are all destinations that are fit for a wedding. If you fancy a bit of Disney magic too, why not filter Orlando into your plans.
The options are endless, and the only thing you need to worry about is never wanting to come back!
