Look to the alternatives
Are you bored of the usual suspects when it comes to holiday destinations? Are you tired of Spain, Portugal, Greece and Turkey? Maybe it’s time for a change.
When it comes to changing your holiday direction completely, you need to do your research beforehand, and being organized will help you cut out the stress and potential nerves when it comes to visiting somewhere completely and utterly different. A good way to do that is by eliminating any potential pitfalls in your journey plans, and to that aim, I forego public transport hell and drive myself to the airport, taking my time and getting myself firmly in the mood for my new holiday destinations.
Booking airport parking can save you time, money, and stress; there isn’t really a downside. Another plus is that you can book this service at practically any UK airport, regional or large.
Visiting new places, especially when you’re used to going to a particular place, with a particular way of life, can be a little daunting, but this is what is so great about travel – you can try it, and if you don’t like it, it’s simple, you just don’t go back again! The best case scenario of course is that you love it and find a new place to add to your regular list.
Vietnam is becoming increasingly popular as a destination this year, when once upon a time it wasn’t even on the radar for tourism. Dubrovnik in Croatia has enjoyed a serious tourism boom over the last couple of years, and cruise ships now include this glittering destination on many an itinerary, pushing more trade in that direction. Antarctica is one of those destinations that many would love to see, but few actually manage, yet it is increasing in popularity, with many heading to various jump-off zones and taking cruise ships into the frozen lands. The downside of this particular break however is that it will cost a small fortune.
The Malaysian Borneo, the Amazon and various other rainforest/eco holidays are making an upsurge too, however be sure to check out travel information before heading in these directions, as there is occasional unrest. Having said that though, sticking to organised tours, heeding any information, and staying safe, all means you have every chance of exploring off the beaten track destinations, in the safest possible manner.
So this year when you’re umming and ahhing over where to spend your holidays, think outside of the box if you’re a little bored, because let’s face it, that big wide world out there is begging to be explored.
