Alternative Things to Do in Orlando
When thinking about Orlando, people usually think of amusement parks, water slides and Disneyworld. The city is like a heaven for children. This doesn’t mean, however, that adults can’t enjoy themselves too. There are several nightclubs, bars or museums to go to. Besides that Orlando can also – surprisingly – be a very romantic city. You will be astonished by the amount of romantic things to do in Orlando for couples.
Date Nights at Leu Gardens are highly recommended for romance. The Harry Leu Gardens are spread out across 50 acres and on the first Friday of the month hundreds of couples come to Date Night. On those Friday nights you and your sweetie can watch an outdoor movie (tearjerkers as well as classics) for only $5.
Something else you can watch is thousands of stars at the Planetarium of Seminole State College. Tickets to their interactive displays with background information are $6. Another place where you two can gaze at the stars is at
the Orlando Science Center, but only on weekdays in fall and winter.
For completely different lights in the sky you should head to Disneyworld. The fireworks of the Wishes Nighttime Spectacular are breathtaking and probably something you haven’t seen before. It is at the Magic Kingdom. More stargazing can be done at the Food Truck Bazaar. They offer couples a unique dining experience while watching the stars high up in the sky. Can it get more romantic than that? Sticking to the ‘sky theme’ are helicopter flights for two. This is an alternative way of experiencing Orlando and its attractions and it will definitely be something to remember. People don’t usually think Cirque du Soleil when they think Orlando, but you can see their La Nouba show in Orlando. Cirque du Soleil show tickets are often available online at websites that sell Disneyland resort tickets.
For more great food and a romantic night out together, you should definitely consider going to Vines Grille and Wine Bar. This classy place prepares its meals with local and organic ingredients and sommeliers will help you with wine pairing. The live jazz band adds to the romantic atmosphere.
A more active thing to do is renting a swan boat at Lake Eola. Paddling out on the lake on a warm summer evening is ideal for some quality time alone with the two of you. Another suggested active activity is visiting the RDV’s Ice Den. Bring warm clothes when you visit this skating rink on Friday or Saturday nights. This is when DJs play popular pop songs.
Music lovers should absolutely head to the Eddie Rose Amphitheatre for Friday Night Live. This is free and everyone is welcome. It is an outdoor concert with a different line-up every week. Music styles vary from rock to blues and jazz. It is also located close to Cranes Roost Park, which is a perfect place for a romantic stroll before or afterwards.
